A theatrical cavalcade of five new plays, SPEAK! moves through comedy, drama, music, absurdity, tenderness, violence, and spectacle. Each piece is deeply personal, while the collection as a whole reflects Murdoch's distinctly personal artistic eye.
As both playwright and director, Murdoch serves as the conductor of the production, orchestrating performers, text, music, movement, and design into a singular theatrical experience.
The nightclub setting allows Murdoch to build on an artistic sensibility she has cultivated for more than a decade: making theatre feel “cool,” immediate, alive, and rooted in historical sophistication, bringing live entertainment to an increasingly diverse young adult audience.
The Five Plays
Violet
A sea-faring admirer's tribute to Violet Jessop, Violet brings the story of the “Unsinkable Lady” from the pages of her memoir to the stage through an original theatrical imagining.
Hide and Peace
This excerpt from Murdoch's first full-length play introduces the unlikely friendship of Kelsey and Yvonne, whose lives unfold across their teens, twenties, and thirties. Here, we meet them as teenagers.

Miss Erica's Acting Class
This final piece serves a purpose beyond dramatization. It is drawn from a genuine conversation—rendered almost entirely verbatim—that took place on the last day Murdoch would ever be Miss Erica.
